I found this great deal at the Dollar Store! I was hesitant to even waste one dollar because seriously….dont we all know that $1.00 basil seeds are less likely to germinate than the $1.47 ones at Walmart? I had my 9 year old son help me out with soaking the dirt briquette and sprinkling seeds. He is, after all, the son of a farmer and loves nothing more than to get his hands dirty and see if he can make something grow!
Every morning, he heads straight for the windowsill in the kitchen to check the progress of our one dollar find! He is also responsible for watering and turning the dish so the seedlings tilt in the opposite direction.
Since our basil has proven to be a success, I went back yesterday and bought the strawberry, coneflower, tomato, and another basil starter kit!
Entertainment for the farmer in all of us for ONE dollar!
