The Teens

When your teenaged son tells you that he just finished reading “the best book he has ever read” – you listen up!

This particular son is a voracious reader-something I can actually take credit for. We don’t own video games for a slew of reasons but mostly because our family simply doesn’t have time for it! After the sun goes down and all the chores are done, our children usually read. For pleasure! I know……

Blade cannot even go to sleep unless he has something good to read. This child can read a 400 page book in 2 days. Every two days he comes to me in search of a new book. I require that they ask me before downloading a book because 1- I want to be sure its age and content appropriate and 2- our eleven year old once downloaded a book in Portuguese (which we are not exactly fluent in)

There is always a struggle when you finish a good book of being able to find something equally good. He and I both agree that reading turns our mind off in the evening and we are better able to fall asleep.

I asked him to help me with a book review. He is a man if few words. His book review goes like this. “Just when you think the guy couldn’t get any worse, he did something even more terrible. I couldn’t put it down! I just had to turn the page to see what he was going to do next!” okay, doesn’t sound very relaxing to me but
